Spring Specials

Ikat ruby - With Spring and the warmer weather in sight, Ikat ruby and Ikat ruby spot are great transition collections. Ikat is a smart, ikat-inspired pattern which becomes very contemporary in its simplicity and monochrome colouring of ruby red on natural. It is complimented by Ikat spot, an interesting texture-like spot, which looks great in any style and almost works as a plain - both prints can be worn well together. This story is great for day and evening; there is a good choice of fabric ranging from fine voile to linen; perfect for this time of year. Look out for the smart new slim tiered skirt that sits fabulously with the now very popular yoke tie blouse, that made its debut in the Winter collection. Anokhi's children's range is back on our shelves. The base fabric is cotton and the softness of the fabric is unmatched which makes it hugely popular with parents.

Nov - Dec 2008 Collection

Festive Highlights

Anokhi’s November collection is a tribute to Diwali, with pink being the ruling colour complemented by several shades ranging from damson purple to chartreuse green. The print for this story is a striking boota in golden yellow on rich pink, called “Brella”, which has been printed on a variety of special fabrics such as chanderi, Chinese silk and linen. Styles are fetchingly feminine - with several party pieces stitched over with striking hand embroidery. Look out for the finely quilted jacket with embroidered collar and in contrast, the classic Anokhi halta neck camisole turned dress for dressing up this winter. Brella is a large and sumptuous collection with something for everyone, for one’s own wardrobe or as a gift.

Monsoon Melange

'Mini Pea' is this month's collection that brings floral expression to a season dominated by showers. Mural pink, vitrine blue and plain whites and chocolates etch the thai buti, and peacock buti designs on short tops, sleeveless crinckled tops, tunics, strappy dresses and tops, wrap tops with fitted crinkled skirts, and long kurtas. Designed to enliven both formal and informal occasions, 'Mini Pea' is sure to delight both wearer and beholder. There is something both timeless and chic about combinations of taupe, chocolate, coffee & fresh white. It has become an annual must at Anokhi to include this versatile story in our collection. A stylish motif, "mini peacock", in both fresh white and taupe versions, is turned into a very smart story using contrast print and fine stitch details to highlight the silhouettes. Plain compliments are in both white and chocolate in a variety of fabric weights, such as fine voile, khadi & light chanderi, perfect for this time of year.

April 2008 Collection

Blow Hot & Blow Cold

Two very different looks for Spring; with the warmer weather in sight. Everyone loves a bit of smart black and this Ikat stripe is a stylish black and beige print, which has an ikat-inspired patterning but also echoes the earthy and dramatic look of African. It sits with Ikat spot, an interesting, irregular small spot print. Both prints work well for day and evening; there is a good choice of fabrics for versatility. Naturally, there is an accompaniment of plain black with this group but the choice pieces are those in three spicy shades - dark lime, poker red and mango orange with detailed trims in Ikat spot and hand embroidery. Ishbell provides the perfect contrast. It is a stylishly detailed print group in cool fresco colours, at times mix-matching all prints within one garment. Subtle sequin work brings out the beauty of these prints, creating a very feminine but smart collection. This collection really christens the beginning of the warmer weather and the natural progression from warm & spicy colours of Winter into the fresh palettes of Spring. A pretty selection of plain silk colours in a variety of camisoles styles is an additional treat to this story.

Winter's Palette

The colour palette for the cooler months has changed to the tapestry hues of ‘Arras’ - olive, burnt orange, greenish-yellow, rose and moss. The prints for this collection are detailed and intricate, featuring ‘Doily’ like the decorative round paper or lace designs placed under cakes for pretty presentation, ‘Peacock’ bootis like the distinctive tail feather markings on that glorious bird, and ‘Conch’ paisley patterns. Arras showcases some beautiful styles, pieced together using several prints on textured fabrics and hand embroidery. The Christmas collection building up to Christmas and New Year, features Jaisalmer Lime and Rich Turq. This print, in a quite different colouring appeared in summer as the beautiful, classic Farrukhabad border and booti that was so much appreciated that it has reappeared in vibrant shades for a small Christmas collection. Soft cottons and cotton/silk mixes have been used with highlights of gold to emphasize the rich look that goes with the festive mood.

Inspired Tones

Diwali spells rich colour. Folkloric, Crete, Peacock Booti and Bandhini Teardrop prints celebrate pink with highlights of harmonizing jewel tones such as Amber and Deep Amethyst. A contrasting smart 'day time' look is provided by 'mad polka', a subtle print whose layer upon layer of spots and semi-spots give it a very fluid feel with a retro look. The silhouettes are clean and contemporary. A small addition is Java in a beautiful shade of teal. The print has a Batik-like linear quality and is exclusively in tussar. Come November and the mood changes to 'Arras'. Arras is a place in France famous for its thriving tapestry industry in the 14th and 15th century. Arras is still often used to refer to a type of rich tapestry with deep and muted colours such as olive, burnt orange, quince or deep greenish-yellow, rose and moss. The prints for “Arras” are also tapestry-like in their detail and intricacy. The overall look is one of timeless beauty.

Soft Hues for Summer

This May, Anokhi's 'Koyao' gives a different feel to blue. The cooling effects of fresh blue are styled in light voile to look great on everyone. 'Koyao' brings two shades of blue together for maximum effect. Highlights of one are added to the other, creating effective contrast details around hems, necklines, cuffs. Naturally, this blue is at its very best when mixed with fresh whites, in Anokhi's trademark style. 'Vintage mint' is a retro-style print in an attractive high-summer colouring of mint with camomile, ochre and soft pink highlights. The styles are feminine with subtle and delicate hand embroidered embellishments. The perfect icing on a light and fluffy summery cake! Edenwood is the evocative name for the Anokhi collection for June. This story has a fresh pink and pretty flora feel about it. The prints are linear and leafy, organic and textured. Edenwood is a print in a small pink 'libertyesque' floral design using borders to accentuate the lines of the silhouettes. Waterleaf is a very striking vine-like stripe in shades of fresh green and aqua. A third print, 'Amber booti', adds an intricate and classic element to the story, in a multi-panelled short 'swish' skirt, a slimline Kurta, a very stylishly detailed blouse and a flattering camisole. Perfect for the summer heat! Scattered white- on- white hand embroidery, bold aqua and green embroidery on white for more drama and fresh jade highlights have been slipped in to complement this subtle summer range.
